Mac Retriever
Your Mac. Completely organised. Fully under control.
MacR
The most complete Mac organiser available.
MacR AI
The personal assistant who never forgets, never loses anything, and never needs telling twice — triage your email, translate and organise your trips, research and write any report.
Notarized macOS app. Apple Silicon + Intel. No subscription required.
The Problem
Your Mac knows everything about you.
Every email you've sent and received. Every document you've saved. Every PDF you've collected. Every contact you've ever dealt with. Years of it — scattered across Mail, Finder, Downloads, Desktop, three email accounts, and a PST archive from a job you left in 2019.
Getting anything out of it requires you to already know where it is.
Mac Retriever fixes that.
What It Does
Email — all of it, in one place
Gmail. Outlook. Hotmail. Any IMAP provider. PST archives. Google Takeout exports. Mac Retriever connects them all, syncs your full history, and gives you one place that actually works as your daily email tool.
Send, reply, CC/BCC, attachments. Gmail-style conversation threading. Full-text search across every account. A contact manager built from your actual email history — deduplicated, tagged, frequency analysis so you know who actually matters.
This is not a companion app. It replaces Mail.
Find anything on your Mac
Full-text search across every local file — PDFs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, code (30+ languages), scanned documents with OCR fallback. If it's on your Mac, Mac Retriever has indexed it.
For files you keep in the cloud — Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud, Google Drive — Mac Retriever reads the metadata without downloading. You can find cloud-only files without pulling them to disk.
Duplicate detection and management built in. Email relationship graph so you can see who's connected to who.
Document Collections — ask questions, get answers
Pull together any set of documents — contracts, research, correspondence, a whole project archive — into a named collection. Browse them, search them, organise them.
With MacR AI: interrogate the collection. Ask it anything. Answers come from your documents, with citations. No hallucinations. No internet. Your content, understood.
MacR AI — For Claude Code Users
Everything above — plus an AI that acts on it.
MacR AI connects to your local Claude Code installation and gives it full access: your emails, your files, your document collections, your contacts. The result is an AI agent that knows your entire digital life and can work through it on your behalf.
Not a chatbot. Not a search box with a chat interface. An agent. You describe an outcome. It gets there.
One rule: the AI never sends, deletes, or modifies anything without your approval. Every action goes through a human review queue. You stay in control.
Three Things People Actually Did
Monday morning. 247 unread.
Three clients waiting, two invoices overdue, the rest noise.
Told Mac Retriever to triage the inbox — flag anything that needs a reply today, archive the newsletters, summarise what I missed over the weekend.
Took four minutes. Inbox zero by 9am.
15 attachments. All in Portuguese.
My girlfriend sent a single email with our Japan itinerary — insurance, hotel confirmations, tour bookings, all in Portuguese.
Told Mac Retriever to extract them into a folder, translate everything into English, then plan the transfers between hotels and tell me what to know about travel cards and cash.
It came back with a day-by-day breakdown and a note about the rainy season.
I hadn't asked about the weather.
A competitive review. Due tomorrow.
Three years of emails, PDFs, saved articles, notes — all over the Mac.
Told Mac Retriever to pull everything relevant, find the gaps, and write a first draft.
Came back with twelve pages, sourced from my own files, with a summary I could send straight to the client.
I changed four sentences.
Remember Google Desktop?
It was supposed to do all of this. Index your entire computer — emails, files, documents — and let you search across everything in one place. It never got there.
Mac Retriever is what Google Desktop was trying to build. And with MacR AI, it goes further still — it doesn't just retrieve. It reasons, organises, and acts on your behalf.
